in a nutshell: this is a lovely establishment with an ambitious menu, but the food needs a bit more flavor. nothing was terrible at all. at worst, i'd say mediocre. the staff was wonderful...everyone was very friendly and happy to talk about the restaurant's history, menu, etc. you get a night out yet cozy familial feel at the same time. there was live music (sort of a hybrid of african drumming & jazz), and a great vibe. our drinks and bread came quickly, and the entrees didn't take much longer. but almost everything was just okay. the fried chicken needed more seasoning, the mac & cheese could've been creamier, etc. i don't even remember what my 3 other dining companions got even though we all tasted each other's meals. nothing stood out. i'll give ida B's another chance though. will report back after trying a different meal/day. i think they're worth another shot.
