Carnival Full of Fitness® proposes Pop-Up for Peace
Coach James Eddie Williams Jr. is determined to make a difference for children in Miami. He, and the community needs your help! Click here to support his idea!
Sherdavia Jenkins Peace Park is a "mini park" in the heart of Liberty City that is underused which has limited activities for children. The park is named and dedicated to the memory of Sherdavia Jenkins who was nine years old when she was killed by a stray bullet as she played in her front yard over a decade ago.
The park is only used once or twice a year; for local activists, residents, family and church leaders to rally against neighborhood crime and of course an annual ceremony to pay tribute in honor of Sherdavia Jenkins' life.
Carnival Full of Fitness® Pop-Up for Peace project is proposing to utilize the park along with the green space / lot on the corner of 62 Street and 12 Avenue to its fullest potential.
Create a Safe Space where community members could enjoy a nice safe family-friendly environment in the park a few Saturdays during the summer.
Carnival Full of Fitness® Pop-Up for Peace will encompasses active play, proper nutritional habits infused with core value principals. The plan is for children to have so much fun that they won’t even realize they are learning values such as respect, responsibility, honesty, caring and coping with differences while getting a complete body workout in the process. We dub this strategy “the old Jedi mind trick.”
We also want to provide a nutritious boxed lunch in the park along with motivational guest speakers to address community awareness such as crime, violence, behavioral health and financial literacy games for children.
I love this concept. Children need more to do than just video games.
Keep building that bridge for social change brother.
We like what you are doing , keep up the good work.
