Blavity acquires Travel Noire

Zim Ugochukwu, the founder and CEO of Travel Noire has just announced that Travel Noire has been acquired by Blavity.

In a letter describing the change, Ugochukwu said that she met Morgan Debaun, the CEO of Blavity, in 2014 when they were both beginning their own companies and journeys.

She recalled that she “wanted to build something special. Something that didn’t conform to any of the conventional rules” when she founded Travel Noire and said that she had remained in close contact with Debaun as she built up her brand.

Now, with the acquisition by Blavity, Ugochukwu said that Travel Noire is “working on things that we didn’t have the capacity to work on before, with lots of man (and woman) power behind us.”

Ugochukwu also told Travel Noire subscribers in the letter about the impact Travel Noire had on her life. She wrote about the legacy she felt she was leaving, writing, “And for four years, God graced us to do the unimaginable — build an award-winning company, host thousands of people in different countries around the world, work from wherever we felt the happiest & inspired, set our own hours, take advantage of unlimited vacations & put a little dent in the world of travel. It’s been a crazy ride.”
